Sappho Sheep

Mom Baaaa
Matriarch of the flock. When we got our sheep Mombaa was pregnant with Baby Belle. Mom Baaa is an ornery lady who loves vegetables and power naps. If you manage to pet her, it’s a major accomplishment.
Baby Belle
Baby Belle! We weren’t expecting to get a lamb when we first got sheep, but Mom Baaa had given birth, and Baby Belle came home with us that day. We bottle fed her for months. Now she’s a healthy 200 pounds. Her white wool becomes our white Florida Flock yarns.
Lucas Llama
Lucas is a young llama that lives at Treehouse Farms. He is the sweetest. So much so that Fran constantly tries to “steal” him and bring him home.
Bo The Alpaca
Bo is a brown alpaca that calls Treehouse Farms in New Port Richey, Fl his home. He can sometimes be a bit skittish, but he has a serious hankering for tasty vegetables. We use his fleece for a lot of our Florida Flock yarns. We think he looks like a walking lollipop.
Bennett The Alpaca
Bennett is a very dark brown/black alpaca. He also lives at Treehouse Farms. He feels most comfortable surrounded by his sheep friends. The fiber from his fleece turn into some of the most luxurious yarn you can imagine. You can visit Bennett on the weekends and when Treehouse has open farm days.
Cranberry
Believe it or not but we found Cranberry at the local ASPCA. Someone had turned her in. So we adopted her. She’s a love that always wants to come into the house. (That’s where all the good treats are.) She’s not a woolly creature, but she’s part of the flock.
Jasper Parrot
If you’ve been to the shop, you know who this guy is. Jasper is an Umbrella Cockatoo. He’s a local celebrity. He’s also the yarn store greeter, saying “Hallo,” to everyone who walks in. Fran is his “Dadbird,” and the two of them go everywhere together.
Gandalf Grey
Gandalf is a Timneh African Grey. He is our “yarn inspector,” constantly checking the yarns for quality and fun. (He thinks he does a great job, but honestly, between you and me, he makes a lot of tangles.) Gandalf is almost always in the yarn shop on the weekends. He is Maggie’s bird.
Beako!
Beako! Our loveable, grouchy green bird. Beako is a 45 year old rescue parrot. He came into contact with a cat before we got him, which is why he is missing an eye and part of his foot. He’s cranky, he’s growly, but he’s adorable and he LOVES food. He also likes watching crime dramas on tv.
The Chiki Ladies
Ah yes, chickens, the gateway animal. We started years and years ago with a chicken called Elsa. (The frozen chicken.) That one chicken morphen into a giant coop with a bunch of hens of all sorts of colors and varieties. They are the best. Not the least of which because they make breakfast.
The Koi
Not exactly part of the flock, but certainly part of the farm. Fran has been keeping fish since he was a child. His joys are keeping koi and keeping SPS corals. These koi are in a 3000 gallon pond he dug by hand.
